Think Pink

having spent most of the day outside
 in rain and sun
quietly hoeing between the dwarf beans
pulling weeds between the beetroot and the spring onions
planting out the runner beans (finally!) already twined together
clearing the greenhouse border of the last winter lettuces
(in readiness for the towering tomato plants that should have already gone in, as most of them are now flowering)
tieing in the peas which have lots of swelling pods but are draped all over the place after the winds of the last few days
sampling fresh peas from the pod - they were so sweet and some are just about big enough for eating now
pulling a few slender stalks of red rhubarb and finding the the most beautiful bright pink ends-where-you-pull-it-out

I now have the urge to share the following feast for the eyes
as those rhubarb ends made me
THINK PINK!!!

What a wonderful setting
for a leisurely meal - so simple and pretty

A very warm welcome to the new followers who have come along for the journey!
It is getting very close now to a giveaway I feel.

Whoops!!!!
Feels like a Friday to me - this post was published first as "A Friday Feast" but my kind and observant daughter has just pointed out to me that it is in fact only Thursday - so now I have a pink face to add to the pinkness of todays post!!!

He he!!!!!! (blush)

  1. Hi Gill,

Love your pinks! The description of your vegetable plot made me smile. There is so much inside! I tried peas last year as well, but unfortunately the birds ate them all. My tomato plants grow fast too, but are not flowering yet.

    Lieve groet & happy evening,

    Madelief x

  2. Hello Gill:
We should probably not describe ourselves as 'pink' people, but, when it comes to a deep cerise, then we are with you.

When we gardened, we used cerise often as an accent colour, shot through borders of other contrasting shades. It served, we found, to focus the eye and bring flowers of more subtle tints and tones to the fore.

  3. Lovely pictures - I rather fancy the pink 50s style kitchen and the stone cottage with its rambling rose and built-in dovecote! Sounds like you will have a fine harvest very soon.

  6. Sounds like your garden is overflowing with homegrown goodness! There is nothing tastier than fresh peas out of the pod that you have just picked. Yum!
We like pink and do it rather well here! Lovely pink pics - particularly the lanterns. Not sure on the kitchens though!

  7. I'm so loving all the pink today, Gill! What wonderful pictures you find to share. Getting the days of the week mixed up is my speciality, so I wouldn't notice if it was Thursday or Friday for your photo feast!! Love the sound of your rhubarb, and all the other things in your veggie patch. Enjoy your gardening.

  10. ooooo love the new header!!! Pea pods oh do I LOVE peas straight from the pod. It is my total indulgence. Far better than chocolate and with each one I am taken right back to childhood and picking them in my Granny's garden where she made us whistle while we picked so if we stopped whistling she knew we were eating not picking :)
As always your post is such a feast for the eyes after a very stressy day. I love pink it makes me feel happy all over.
Thank you for brightening my day.
    Love Tickety-boo x

  17. I'm sure my hubby would allow me to have a gorgeous pink house if it had a gorgeous lake like the one in the photo, he's got a thing about having a lake to fish on. Hmmmm, when we win the lottery. Sounds like your vegetable garden is very productive at the moment. My tomatoes are also waiting to be moved in to their final positions and are also flowering.

  18. Wonderful images Gill. I am absolutely in love with the first one...simply heaven. Oh and those divine little shaped doors, how gorgeous and the retro kitchen, just loving it. I was thinking about the party that you are to host and suggest that you have some kind of a theme as it will help you to narrow down your choices. I see you are getting ahead of yourself, thinking its friday on thursday, how funny, I do those things too! Have a lovely weekend, love Linda x
