I hit the Flea market early this morning and came away with a couple of pretty pieces of china, a load of mixed linen and crochet, some vintage cotton reels and some gorgeous mother of pearl buckles.
a pair of hand embroidered tray clothes with London monuments - Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament on this one
All the linens and crochet pieces I got for £10 the lot, which I thought was pretty good - there are well over 50 pieces.
I also picked up a generous length of rose pink/peach braid
and some vintage threads on wooden reels
Still on a thrifty theme, earlier in the week I had a trawl round the numerous charity shops in our closest town with a friend, and found three pretty blouses for the grand sum of £8.50
a pretty white cotton Boden blouse with drawn thread work detail
And finally, thought I'd just show you the new house sign I painted yesterday onto a piece of wood we found left here when we moved in - perfect for a house sign.
I sanded it first then painted it in Annie Sloan's Chalk paint "Versailles "(sadly it was too badly water stained to leave natural). I then made a simple template using Wordart in Word, (using Harrington as the font), made a mirror image of it, then transferred it to the wood and painted over it.
Just needs a few coats of varnish then hopefully a handy husband to fix some stakes to the back so it can be put in the front garden at the end of the drive.
Just another job for the weekend!
Wishing you all a very Happy Weekend!

What pretty finds. I love your crocheted and hand embroidered pieces and your pretty plate and vase. I hope the sun shines long enough for you to display your lovely house sign in the garden. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove your finds - both vintage and charity! I gave a lot of my boden stuff to charity as I'd put on weight and then with the illness I've had I've lost weight! I wish now I hadn't given it away! Those buckle are wonderful too!
