Well my dears, I fear I have very little to share with you today as I have had a week of doing nothing but decorating the living room from dawn 'til dusk ( or so it feels ), punctuated only by the ordinary day to day routines of school run, shopping and basic housework.

So my mind feels quite numb and empty, but I am thrilled with the transformation taking place indoors.

I have done away at last ( hooray!!) with dark mustardy gold on the walls, here from when we moved in nearly two years ago, and replaced it with brilliant bright white!
I toyed with the idea of choosing from the multitude of lovely whites out there ( too much choice on the Farrow and Ball colour card alone without all the other shades of white out there) and tried a tester pot or two, but in the end settled for a good plain honest white, and the difference is wonderful to behold ( to me and my family anyway!) - I never cease to be amazed by the change a coat or two of paint can make.

As I haven't picked up the camera all week I shall share "before" and "afters" in due course.

So just a short post today sharing a few garden photos taken last week and some flowers picked for the house
No sewing this week, no gardening, no nothing other than me, the paintbrush, the roller and an endless playing of some soothing Correlli on the CD player.
But I did sew two cushions last weekend in a lovely vintage floral linen for an order, complete with vintage buttons.
And my day was made last week when lovely Amanda at Crafty in the Med awarded me the Sunshine Award - Thank you Amanda, it certainly bought some sunshine into my day that was otherwise sadly lacking here in the UK!
Hoping some sunshine comes your way this weekend!

Your flowers are lovely and I especially loved that capanella? The purple one....gorgeous! I can't wait to see your before and afters of your living room. It's so strange because I have been wanting so badly to pick up a paint brush and throw some paint on my walls but I've promised myself to get the entire house ordered and organized first so it could be years! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOooh, can't wait to see the before and after pics. Our house is badly in need of painting, but it's all the prep beforehand that puts me off! :0)

Your garden is looking so beautiful! It makes me feel better when all I see outside is a lot of dormant plants. The campanula is particularly nice.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your shots of the painting. I don't think anything beats plain old white :)

ReplyDeleteI'd say your post and floral display was very interesting... and can I ask ...Is that your garden? I'm looking at the pic where there is an archway and a beautiful bird stand and statue if it is I just love it?
I'm looking forward to the before and after too :-)
Amanda :-)
Congratulations on the award, very well deserved. I'm looking forward to seeing the before and after pics. We've been doing a little decorating ourselves (well, Mick has) and it's amazing what a transformation it can bring. We've been to Leeds University open day today, has Bella started looking around yet?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers and garden are stunning! I wish we were neighbors so I could stroll through and admire all your hard work, and of course sit on that bench with a cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!
Mary
P.S. I'm looking forward to seeing the before & after photos too!
I am so in to flowers for the moment. Maybe because I have challenged myself to have more than just geraniums in my garden this year. I bought half a dozen annuals yesterday that I would put into ground today. So excited. I adore the Foxgloves. Gorgeous! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSo love your garden! Can't wait to see the indoors pix!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely garden you have! I love flowers and got a lot of new ideas after being here:-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for following my blog. I will follow your, and I am ooking forward to seeing your new room:-)
Hi Gill, your garden is looking lovely and all your picked flowers, so pretty. I love the way the roses in the last photo, match the paintwork!
ReplyDeleteI do hope you received my e-mail, to thank you for your package of delights. It was very naughty of you, to send all those lovely things, but so very kind. I love your pincushion and the traycloth, and Lois made light work of the chocolate. The teatowel is a lovely memento of a wonderful Jubilee. I finally got around to posting, and have given you a little mention. I can't wait to see your transformed Living room, it is hard work with white though, so many coats!
Keep up the good work, with much love, Linda xx
