French Fancy

Using some wonderful free graphics that I found over at The Graphics Fairy, I have been having a bit of fun this week in between dodging the rain showers, doing the school run, dog walking, and the usual day to day "stuff" .

If anyone is interested, I have prepared a tutorial showing what I did (and the mistakes and pitfalls!) and as I am currently experimenting with some other different methods I may do more tutorials if anyone would be interested.

Please leave a comment if you might be interested in seeing these.

So, any excuse NOT to get back on with what I should be doing, which is finishing painting the walls white in the sitting room before the new loose covers arrive.

Soon the next distraction will be new curtains or roman blinds - at the moment, as I could not bear to put back the old curtains we inheirited when we bought the house once I'd started to paint the room (and which we have lived with as they "matched" the rather dark gold walls that I have now finally painted over), and not wanting to start the curtain/fabric search just yet, I have temporarily hung two mismatched pairs of old floral curtains.

My 17 year old daughter thinks we should keep it like this as they are "cute" and its different to have non-matching floral pairs - hmm, I don't think so!

Wishing you all a very Happy Weekend, and thanks for visiting.

  6. I'd love to see a tutorial, will you use You Tube? I love your French pillows!

I noticed Logan likes to sit on your foot stool, Duke is the same way, gives him the height to see out the windows! LOL!!!

Keep dry! We're headed into a 6 day heat wave of 90+ (32.222) degrees!

  7. What a tease just showing us a snippet of the room, but it's looking very lovely.
I'm not a sewing bod but a tutorial may inspire to make something small by hand as a gift. Love the motifs you have used.

  8. Hi Gill

Your rooms looks very welcoming and the dog seems to approve.

I am impressed with your pillows and would love to see how you did it.

There is a nostalgic feel to the mis mathed floral curtains, which grabs me.

  9. Your cushions are fabulous and a tutorial would be wonderful. I suspect I don't have the right sort of printer for this project. I have a laser printer, hubby won't have an inkjet printer in the house. :(
    Thanks for sharing,
    Anne xx

  11. Hi Gill! I do agree with your daughter. I do love the mismatched curtains in your room. Looks really cute. In a magazine article of Selina Lake´s home there was a photo of her livingroom... with mismatched curtains. And I loved it!

Thank you for your kind comment in my blog on my return to blogging. It was truly appreciated ;-)

  12. A tutorial would be interesting Gill!
And I agree with your daughter...why not two different curtains? You can always balance it with assorted cushions, a few flowers and voila!
    Blessings to all,

  14. I'm not a sewer but I'm always interested to know how things are made. The room is looking lovely, I know the gold walls have irritated you since you moved in, so this will be a job you're really pleased with.
