For my (50 something, eeek!) Birthday today we celebrated by visiting Pashley Manor Gardens in Ticehurst, Kent, to enjoy the last day of the Tulip Festival.
And as I'm in a self-indulgent mood, I shall take you on a garden tour if you'll let me!
I'll let the photos speak for themselves, but be warned, there are a few of 'em!
For that reason I shall share the rest of the best in the next post (and I did take rather a lot so these are just the cream at the top of the milk) - the azaleas, the sculptures and statues, the pots and other pretty and interesting parts of the garden.
Brace yourselves girls!
First, the red tulips
Then the pinks............
the whites and creams and multi-colours..............
and the yellows.
Funnily enough I didn't spot many orange tulips, but maybe I just missed them, although there were a few poked in amongst the reds now I look at my photos - they were somewhat upstaged by the reds I think, which is why I didnt really see them.
I can't decide which ones are my favs, they were all spectacular, although the displays of reds and pinks I thought were particularly beautiful with their under plantings of red bellis with the red tulips, and gorgeous pink forget-me-nots and London Pride (saxifraga urbium) with the pinks.
Which colour tulips are your favourites?
I do hope you enjoyed these glorious tulips, and thank you for indulging me on my Birthday!
Hope you have all had a good May Day Bank Holiday!
Happy birthday Gill, so glad you had a lovely day doing exactly what you love!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing!!!

Happy belated birthday Gill! What a beautiful place to visit. I went to Pashley Manor a few years ago and enjoyed it just as much as you did. Unfortunately the tulips were almost gone when we arrived. Looks you were really lucky. They look amazing!

Good morning Gill, and Happy Birthday. This garden is amazing! I could sit here and look at these photos all day long, if I had the time :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
Your blogging sis, Connie :)
Now thats a great Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI find as I age my tastes are changing.
I am going to introduce red into my garden this year, something I never thought I'd do, but my garden needs more oomph! (plus it's a year for remembering) So I would say red tulips this year.
Happy Belated Birthday, Gill!! Eek, I'm a 50 something girl, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThese gardens are spectacular! What a perfect place to visit in spring. Tulips can put on a better show than just about any other flower, can't they? I like the reds, but the pinks I love -- pink tulips, pink roses, pink peonies, you get the picture. :) I love the grass in England, which is such a lovely shade of green, and I also love the charming, half-timbered house that belongs to these gardens.
It looks like you and your daughter had a wonderful day, Gill. Thanks for taking us along on the tour.
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
