In an idle moment...................

I did manage a little sewing over the summer holidays, but not much

I have been enjoying making things from hessian and jute

Some jute napkin rings with simple cross stitched designs in red

sort of scandinavian in style

and lined with red gingham

and some little pin cushions

hessian stamped with some stitchy words

and attached to a piece of vintage washed and worn soft white cotton with red machine stitching

backed with blue or black striped ticking

and filled with soft filling and a handful of lavender.

Soon to be available in my Folksy and Etsy shops

  2. Hello Gill:
Your napkin rings are so very stylish and we can well see them fitting a very contemporary table setting as well as a farmhouse kitchen or country cottage. We particularly like the way in which you have lined them with the red gingham. As for lavender bags, an essential here during the summer months to deter the tiny clothes moth with which we are constantly plagued.

  3. Dear Gill,

You are so clever. Yes, these are very Scandinavian and therefore thoroughly desirable objects ;-)

Ideal for Christmas too. Oh dear, that word is creeping more and more into everyday conversation, don't you find?

    Have a great week.

  4. What lovely napkin rings - I can see them being very useful in sets with the different motifs so everyone knows which belongs to which person! And I love the sweet stamped messages on the hessian, and the combination of fabrics!
