A Plea for Help!

Just a quick post to show the latest cushion ( currently backless so not finished yet) , to announce an award, and a pathetic plea for help!!!

First things first - the cushion...

This one is made from a mix of vintage and new fabrics, in pale blues and turquoises - I couldn't seem to get a good photo that really shows off the colours accurately, and they are rather pretty I think - I will try again when the cushion is finished and I can take a photo of it elsewhere.

The bright floral is from a 70s pillowcase that I bought for a song, sadly ripped but the fabric was so pretty I knew I could re-use it. 

The pale turquoise and cream is also from a pillowcase, probably 80s.

The checks and plain pale blue linen are all from my stash.

I have been making  this sort of basic patchwork cushion for many years, and it's still a favourite way to use up scraps of fabric quickly and easily to get an instant result.

One of the reasons for making so many cushions at the moment is to reduce the size of my stash which is gradually taking over my workspace. 

Another reason is to use some of the lovely fabrics I have instead of just piling them up half hidden. 

And a third reason is that I love making them, and I want to put them for sale on my Etsy and Folksy shops 

But I still have to face up to actually listing something, and I don't know where to start! Although a veteran buyer on eBay, I have never even listed anything on there. I shall be fine once I take the bull by the horns and list the first item. 

So, if you have any tips or instructions please I shall be very grateful!

I know I need some good photos, and a description and measurements of the item, but how do you calculate the postage? And what about postage abroad??? 

Help please !!!!

It's fear of the unknown stopping me here.

I made the above oven mitt a few years ago, one of many pairs that I made for a fair I was doing, and I thought I would make some more for the shop once I have tackled that first listing. I still have some of the special heat resistant wadding to use up.

As I am already in arrears with my blog posts,  I thought I'd better do a few short posts to catch up rather than the usual longish "throw it all in the pot together " posts that I usually do.

I must post promptly about my trip to the Chelsea Flower Show (hopefully later today or tomorrow ) and also pass on my recent Blog Awards from the lovely Jane at Hook and Yarn to other blogs.

First up then, the Blog Awards!

Rather than pass on both awards to individual blogs I have decided to split them and pass on each award seperately. 

The Liebster Blog Award  I would like to pass on to some of my favourite newer blogs, or those with less than 100 followers (which I think is one of the requirements?).

I think it is also part of the "rules" (what rules?!!!) that those awardees have to post 7 things about themselves - as I did this with my first Liebster Award a few months ago I am assuming I have already done this (takes too long to think up ANOTHER 7 amusing things!) and therefore being very naughty and breaking the rules this time!

It's time again

Yes, its time again for award giving!!!!

A couple of days ago, Sarah from home made gorgeous very kindly awarded me Liebster Award, which I am very pleased to accept - Thank you Sarah!

 So that now gives me the lovely job of passing on the award to a few other blogs.

This is always difficult as there are so many lovely, inspiring blogs out there in cyberspace, and finding either newish blogs or those who well deserve more attention is quite hard.

Just finished an embroidered heart made from some lovely organic fairtrade cotton from India - don't often indulge in many new fabrics but this was so lovely and a good price too.

It is woven from several colours, and is a sort of greeny bluey grey colour over all - it reminds me a little of two-tone tonic - blast from the past eh???

Reasons to be cheerful

The very sweet Alison at Sweet Little Things has awarded me a Liebster Blog!!!!!

This means "beloved" I think, so how wonderful that my blog is being enjoyed (atleast by one person anyway!!! ) so Many Many Thanks to Alison for awarding it to me!

It is awarded to either recently opened blogs or blogs that don't have many followers, as a way of promoting their blogs - what a brilliant idea!

Now with this award comes some rules which are:-

The lemon tree has flowered!!!!

The blossom smells beautiful, almost like jasmine.

Anyone who read my posting on the lemon tree (see sidebar for older posts) will know how nervous I was on being given this lovely present, wondering whether it would survive.

But survive it has, even thrived!

With loads of blossom and new leaves which have been produced since its been here!!!!

Wonders will never cease!

And of course there are many more reasons to be cheerful despite the miserable wet weather, including today being the first day of half term!!! Yay, no school run for a week!!!!
